Early on

At college I studied film & photography; at university I studied theatre design. After graduating I worked in theatre for a few years during the late 90’s and early 00’s, then gradually transitioned to a career in live events. I have lived and worked in Edinburgh since 1999. Initially I worked as a freelance technician for a wide variety of event companies and theatres. In 2004 I set up Big House Events, with Stuart Nairn. Stuart looked after the carpentry and construction side of the business, whilst I dealt with the technical operations. In 2014 it was time for a change, and I went solo.

Ewen has worked in the industry for over 25 years and has a wealth of experience across events of all sizes, from small intimate weddings to arena shows. Event Tech-Style provides lighting, PA systems, staging and AV, bringing in trusted specialist freelance crew where required. With a keen eye for detail, strong technical knowledge and a well-maintained equipment stock, Event Tech-Style has the experience, crew and equipment to deliver the tech you need for your event… with style.

Current

In 2015 Event Tech-Style was born; with a great variety of regular contracts and one off gigs, our workload is varied, engaging and always evolving. We provide equipment and crew for East Neuk Festival, Music at Paxton, The Cumnock Tryst. We regularly provide lighting and PA systems for weddings and events at Unusual Venues Edinburgh (The Caves, The Rowantree & Marlin’s Wynd), and have regular jobs in TV and film as well as a broad range of one off projects incorporating various elements of technical production.
